Programs Overview

CBCA Night At…: Offers members and their guests frequent opportunities to attend performances of cultural events free of charge. Past evenings have included Donna Rosita’s Jalepeno Kitchen at El Centro Su Teato, a family production of A Colorado Christmas featuring the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Colorado Children’s Chorale, Colorado Ballet’s Dracula, Curious Theatre production of Yellowman, and a private viewing of the Sargent and Italy exhibition at the Denver Art Museum.

Behind the Scenes: Provides unique, CBCA members-only glimpses into cultural organizations free of charge. The 2004 series included a tour of the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, a lecture on the Libeskind expansion at the Denver Art Museum, a studio rehearsal at Kim Robards Dance, and Salon d’Arts exhibition at the Colorado History Museum.

On My Own Time: Celebrates and develops the creativity of employees. This employee art exhibition is designed to identify, encourage, and acknowledge the creative talents of the people who work for CBCA member companies. CBCA also organizes a multi-company show and reception to recognize winners from the individual company exhibitions.

Leadership Arts: An innovative eight month arts leadership program trains emerging business executives in skills such as strategic planning, advocacy, governance, and fundraising that enhance their leadership skills and allow them to serve on the boards of nonprofit cultural organizations.

Education Seminars: Builds skills and knowledge for the business, philanthropic, and arts communities via training on subjects from the John Carver Model of Board Governance to workforce creativity and corporate philanthropy. 2004 featured management expert Tom Davenport speaking at CU School of Business on the art of managerial innovation.

Arts Immersion: Engages business people through customized topics on business/arts partnership. Arts Immersion covers topics ranging from the economic impact of the arts to serving on nonprofit boards and using arts programming for workforce development.

The 2004 Study of Metro Denver Culture: documents over $1.3 billion annual economic impact of the arts on our community. CBCA, working with Deloitte & Touche, collects data on the impact of the cultural industry on the metro Denver economic community, including employment, operating and capital expenditures, resident and tourist attendance, tax revenue, and educational outreach. The study is a key tool for cultural organizations in their advocacy and fundraising efforts and for economic development and tourism efforts. The study is published bi-annually.

Business in the Arts Annual Awards: Salutes outstanding business-arts partnerships at an inspiring and entertaining luncheon with over 600 key business, arts, and political leaders.
