arts immersion

CBCA offers an exciting two-day leadership development program, Arts Immersion. A popular offering in Denver from 2001 to 2003, through support from the Colorado Council on the Arts, this program now serves communities outside of the metro Denver area in partnership with local entities.

A condensed version of CBCA's popular Leadership Arts program, Arts Immersion presents an overview of the local arts community and gives business and community leaders the tools they need to become part of that community through service on the boards of cultural organizations and other volunteer activities. Program topics include the local cultural community (an overview), board governance, fundraising, and arts advocacy. Participants discover an array of opportunities for volunteerism with local arts and cultural organizations, including local resources for cultural board service.

A locally-identified, short-term practicum experience rounds out the program, and could be the development of a marketing plan for First Fridays arts events, or the compilation of a calendar of children's activities. Participants voluntarily undertake the practicum after the completion of the Arts Immersion program to foster ongoing interaction between the arts and the business communities.
